Ralfinamide
A potential first in-class therapy for Neuropathic Low Back Pain (NLBP) with potential in other neuropathic pain conditions.
Newron is developing ralfinamide, a unique New Chemical Entity that is believed to mediate its potent analgesic effect through the inhibition of sodium channels, including Nav 1.7, N-type Calcium channels and NMDA receptor.
Newron recently reported excellent results for its compound ralfinamide in patients with Nerve Compression and Entrapment conditions, where NLBP represents the most common indication (55 million patients estimated in US/EU) and for which there are no approved drugs. Newron recently initiated a Phase IIb/III study (SERENA) with Ralfinamide in patients with NLBP.
