
University of Toronto, Senior Canada Research, Chair in Comparative Pain Genetics
Prof. Seltzer obtained his DMD in Israel at the Hebrew University. With several prestigious awards and fellowships he completed his post doctoral training and became a Professor of Physiology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem where he substantially contributed to the understanding of pain mechanisms and pathways, and to drug effects on chronic pain. Of note are his pivotal studies on genetic factors affecting susceptibility to chronic pain, the effect of environmental variables on pain levels, and the development of animal models of neuropathic pain. In 2002 he moved to the University of Toronto holding the position of Senior Canada Research, Chair in Comparative Pain Genetics, in the Faculty of Dentistry.
Professor Seltzer is a recognized opinion leader in the field of neurobiology of Pain as author of numerous articles and book chapters, members of the editorial board of several scientific journals.
